2003 SEMINAR:

The 2003 Business and Human Rights Seminar was held on the 9 December 2003 in London and attracted an international audience of business leaders, government officials and leading commentators from NGO's, academia and the media.

The seminar was sponsored by Respect and National Grid plc and supported by: Amnesty International UK, Council for Education in World Citizenship, One World Trust, Organic Express, Oxfam International, New Academy Review, Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative, and The Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum

The 2003 seminar focused on Governance and the way that human rights can relate progressive trends in corporate governance to wider societal issues and the need for better global governance generally. Particular attention to the 'United Nations Norms on the responsibilities of trans-national corporations and other business enterprises with regard to human rights' and their possible utility in helping to clarify the debate and providing the basis of a tool for business.
